The Change…Menopause

Did you know…..
75% of women experience the dreaded hot flashes?
They can last for up to two years?
And some…….up to five years?

Sorry ladies, but it's time to face the facts. Your body is starting or has already begun to stop producing estrogen. That means that it doesn't matter what the temperature outside may be, you need the air conditioner turned up so high there is frost on the inside of the windows! It means that no one understands or appreciates you as they should and if you have to listen to their problems one more time you are gonna give them a real problem. You can't sleep, or like me you can't get enough sleep!

Many symptoms, too many to name, but chances are if you are reaching that age and estrogen is no longer welcome in your body, you have some of these symptoms.

I have heard about "the change" my whole life and I have never understood what women were talking about, or why they felt the need to talk about it at all. Now that I find myself sweating so bad I can't apply my makeup and so disturbed with my sleep patterns that I can't tell day from night, I understand why this topic seems to creep up in 40plus women's conversations. It has finally crept into mine.

I have a few tips that I have stumbled onto as I have started this journey into "adulthood"…

I no longer take long hot showers. I now take cooler showers because I have read that the hot water can set off my sweating.

Black Cohosh is an herb that can help to reduce hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness and other issues that go along with "the change".

I have a small fan that I set up on my vanity and I turn it on me while I apply my makeup so that I don't sweat it off while applying.

What are you doing to make this change bearable?
