Happy Birthday Clancy! Hello Opry!

What better way to celebrate your nineteenth birthday than a trip to Nashville and the Grand Ole Opry!!!

October 19 was Clancy’s birthday, and she turned nineteen. We have decided that trips are memories that last, as opposed to sweaters that shrink, tear, or get worn and tattered, and jeans that fad and rip….you get our drift! Trips allow you to enjoy yourself at the moment and every time you think back, or look at a picture, or hear a song, you are reminded of that brief time in life when you enjoyed time with those you love.

Our men baled on the trip, so it was strictly a ladie’s trip….with Cam of course!

We checked out the hotspots.

Found some sweets!

Went to the Opry!

Little Jimmy Dickens 94 and goin' strong!!!!

Played….

Centennial Park

Ate…

Even Snoopy enjoyed a delicious meal at the Cheesecake Factory for Aunt C's Birthday!

Of Course Cam spotted some cheerleaders at the table behind us at the Rain Forest Cafe!

And had such a good time that Cam has decided to make Nashville home….when he is an opry star of course a few years from now!

Happy Fall Ya'll!!!!

I love this time of year! October signals the beginning of Fall and the holiday season. It is also recognized as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” and I encourage each of you to take time to get your yearly mammogram and take care of yourself so you can continue taking care of others.

It’s been a while since my last post. I have been busy trying to keep up with the season. With football games, church dinners and youth outings, school in full swing and a freshman in college, and an 18 month-old grandson, I have been overwhelmed with busy!

At the end of September, I had the pleasure of helping with the “Cancer Sucks Softball and Cornhole Tournament”. This is an annual event, now in it’s fourth year, and I have been blessed to help with concessions each year. This year’s event raised a total of $15,957! Which meant each recipient received a total of $2400 toward medical expenses. Graham County is so blessed to have a group of young men and women that want to help those that are struggling with this terrible disease and the hardships it causes their families. What a great place to live!

RMS Field Trip!!!!

Fall is an amazing time to take our seventh graders to the Hooper Bald! At an elevation of 5,429, this grassy mound is a perfect field trip. It is hard to believe that many of our students have never been to the Bald and experienced the beauty of our county. With the leaves changing colors and the cooler temperature, it is one of the best memories we make with our students all year!

We load the yellow school buses and head out with our jackets, gloves, blankets and picnic lunches. The drive takes about 45 minutes to arrive at the parking area and then we hike up the side of the mountain to the top. The temperature in Robbinsville was around 45 degrees which means the temperature on the Bald is probably 20 degrees colder (Do the math lol). It was COLD! But it was an amazing day…until the rain came!!!!

Worry

This morning, amidst the storms of my life, I see the sun peaking through the clouds. Seems like that little glimmer of light has been my comfort for quite sometime now. My life, like yours I'm sure, is filled with worry and heartache, pain and sorrow. There are times the storm clouds close in.

I am filled with worry-worry for my family. My heart aches for peace and comfort that only comes from the source of that light that is shining through the clouds.

Psalms 56:3 "What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee."

Dear Lord,
I trust you with my salvation. I trust with my family-my peace of mind. Help me to trust you more.
Amen
